Always clean your blocking wires...

I love the internet. I don't want to take it home to meet my mom and marry it (too much pr0n), but it has saved me from having to learn things the hard way many times. For instance, as a Christmas present to myself, I bought blocking wires. It never would have occurred to me to clean them off, they are for knitting after all and a lot of knitting is light colored; including this shawlette I made for my mother-in-law. If I had run those blocking wires through this pretty little white, light green and baby blue work of art I would have been stomping mad, swearing in front of the 4-yo mad, using blocking wires as javelins mad. Lucky for everyone in this household, the internet saves the day.
Birthday Knitting
Started like this...

turned into this...

and ended up like this...

The yarn is Schaefer in Susan (100% Mercerized Pima Cotton) and the colorway is Beatrix Potter. I used US 6 needles and all but about 12 grams of the yarn. I used 2/0 beads that were clear with silver lining along the edging (please, don't tell anyone that I was too stupid and forgot to put them on the center point, thanks). I started Monday and ended Friday night. It's 52 inches across the wingspan and 26 inches at the point. I hope she likes it!
