secret thing

The really cool thing I was so excited about...

...happened really fast! If it wasn't three days before Christmas and I didn't have a whole 'nother one to do (and every relative we have coming in at noon tomorrow) I would have redone it and cast on more stitches. As it is, I cast on 44 stitches using size 3mm and Duet Sock Yarn (fingering weight) in Bauer Brick. I bought it at my fave...The Loopy Ewe. They are out of this color way right now but keep coming back, they'll get it again :) I stole the idea from the preview of Spin-Off Winter 2007 edition project called Anklettos and Wristlettos: Fringe benefits by Phreadde Davis. Here is the link...it's under the project heading...um, I have to confess that I didn't actually buy the mag, I just looked it over and decided that the ankletto...

...was a sock with no heel and went from there. If you're familiar with socks, I knit about 4 inches (including two inches of 2x2 rib) then did the increases for an instep and then did additional increases at the center top of the foot. It wanted to roll like crazy (of course) so I crocheted at the bottom and had to steam block it...I'm still really excited about it...next time, I'll cast on more stitches, and do some seed stitch the last inch or so...maybe some beads...*sigh* I can't wait until Christmas knitting is over :)

So, all the knitting that I'm doing right now is for presents!!! ARRGH I can't really post so, stop pressuring me...OK, OK I'll show you a little bit...now stop whining :)

these are 80% done, but they're not for my aunt...

this is 95% done (only thing left are beads)...

This present is 0% done but it's going to be so frickin' cool, I'll have to post it as soon as it is done because I'm so excited!!! btw it's replacing the capelet....

Blogger knits...

So, Christmas approaches and since I have no little elves around to do knitting for me, I'm afraid that blogging will be light this month. I am however, knitting my a*s off :)

I had to put Elijah in the closet...I desperately wanted to have him finished in time to hang him on a cactus or something for his pictorial debut at Ysolda's contest...but alas, my love for my relatives is stronger than my need to compete (who knew?)

I finished my dad's present...sadly I didn't learn anything from the hospital incident and failed to photograph it before I wrapped it...

So, as long as I finish mom's slippers, add the beads to my grandmothers scarf finish my aunts socks and knit up one capelet, I'm all done :). It'll be a great excuse to crawl off by myself and insist on quiet time to knit. I bet if I push it I won't even have to do dishes!!!!

Bad Blogger!

So, Jardin is getting better by leaps and bounds (at least for someone who has been in the hospital for three weeks) and I finished her shawl, which she loved...and her mom even ran off with it since Jardin was kinda over heated from all the excitement and I was kinda excited from all the discussions of her therapies and the positive changes and I miiiiiiight have kiiiiiinda forgot (a little bit)...to (yikes)...take a picture *ugh* BUT, that doesn't mean that I can't get one, it'll just be in a day or two. So, to take your mind off of that, I'll show you my progress so far on the Elijah...
...and how about some loveliness...
It's a project that I started months ago, but it's supposed to be a gift for Hitch for Christmas...I think she'll love them. More to come!
